Titanic Ice Sculpture from Passion for Ice

Titanic Vodka Luge

The RMS Titanic sank on the 15th April 1912 after striking an ice berg off the coast of America bound for New York.

At the time it was the largest passenger cruise ship afloat. When it went down, 1,500 people we lost. It was carrying onboard 2,224 passengers on its maiden voyage. It had only lifeboat capacity for 1,178 passengers.

On the 10th April 1912, the RMS Titanc left the port of Southampton on the south coast and headed for its first port of call - Cherbourg in France before then heading along the English channel bound for its second port of call - Queenstown (now called Cobh) in Ireland. From here it should have been plain sailing across to New York.

Four days into the Atlantic crossing, approximately 375 miles south of Newfoundland the ship hit an ice berg at 11:40pm ships' time. By 2:20am she finally broke apart and sank.

Today the ship lies in two parts some 12,415 feet (3,783m) on the seabed. It was discovered after a long search (by many) in 1985. It is one of the most famous ships of all time. Literally thousands of artefacts have been recovered and displayed in museums and exhibitions around the world.

It makes a GREAT theme for any maritime party especially made famous by the James Cameron film - The Titanic. The imagination can run riot with ideas for decor, decorations, food, fancy dress costumes and games. The centre point would be an Ice Vodka Luge.

With bunting, boat shaped canapes, maritime pictures and artefacts - this would be a party not to be missed.

Avoid the morbid aspect of sinking ships and all that; make the party a grand an opulent affair. Guests enter along a makeshift gangway. Porters and waiters in white dinner jackets (rope in a few friends to lend a hand at this part - they can always get changed into more affluent style 1912 clothing later)!

This is a simply brilliant theme that lets your guest enjoy themselves and dress how they want to - flambouyant to conservative!
