Fabergé Egg

Fabergé Egg Ice Sculpture

From 1885 to 1917 Peter Carl Fabergé created a very limited edition of Eggs - known as the Fabergé Eggs. About 50 were made in this period of which only 43 survive.  They are fabulous, jewel encrusted spheres.

It is said the first one was hand-crafted for Tsar Alexander III's wife.  The Tsar decided to give his wife an Easter Egg. As Cadbury was not big in Russia in those days, The Tsar commissioned Fabergé to make an expensive, jewel-covered Egg in 1885. The egg was made from gold. Like the famous Russian dolls, the egg opened and opened to reveal more and more beautiful and exquisitely hand-made jewels.

This is our homage to that first egg.  Have you an egg you'd like us to make?  send us your design and let's create an exquisite and unique ice-egg. We can create either a Vodka Luge (as in this piece, right) or as an Ice Sculpture.  Given enough room on the ice plinth, we may be able to carve a name, initials or even some text.

The Fabergé egg would make an ideal piece for an 'ice melt' - where we would freeze in to the centre some object (of value or not), put it on display and guests / public would have to guess how long it would take to melt and retrieve the object.
